Dividend Pond Trails

We've hiked in the past with rain in the forecast, and the rain never came. So we decided to chance it and make the half-hour drive to Rocky Hill. After all, a 47% chance of rain means there's a 53% chance that it won't rain! However, by the time I pulled out of my friend's driveway the rain had already begun, and when we arrived at Dividend Pond it was 45 degrees with light rain.

We could see the waterfall from our cars and decided to at least walk down and snap a photo.

Seeing that our waterproof clothing was doing its job, we decided to continue with an abbreviated version of our hike.

I loved the look of this bridge, but we thought it was a bit too slippery to cross in the rain.

The next place to cross was also not a good option when the water has risen.

We turned around and continued on the path and then came upon this inviting place to cross the brook.

This was a pretty path which took us back to the waterfall, approaching from the other side of the brook.

The trails are well-maintained and inviting vignettes with benches are situated throughout.

We looped around the pond and returned to our cars.

I originally routed a three-mile trail which would allow us to explore the ten archeological sites that are on the property.

This would be a nice place to take a walk with your family and/or dogs. I hope to return some sunny day and enjoy all the park has to offer.

Address: 100 Old Forge Road, Rocky Hill, will take you close enough to find the well-marked parking lot on the east side of the road.
